How we handle your information

What data we collect

We collect only what you provide and what is needed to deliver the service:

  • Account data: email address used to sign up
  • Profile data: your name, current role, experience level, region
  • CV text: the text of your uploaded CV (never stored as a file, only as plain text)
  • Skills and certifications: extracted from your CV or added manually
  • Career goals: preferences you set in the app
  • Roadmap progress: which steps you have completed

We do not collect device identifiers, location, contacts, or any data beyond what you explicitly provide.

How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the Carier Consult service:

  • Generating personalised career roadmaps via AI
  • Analysing skill gaps against target roles
  • Running level assessments and tailoring questions to your background
  • Generating and improving your CV
  • Tracking your roadmap progress and awarding achievements

We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond the services listed below.

Third-party services

We use two external services to operate the app:

  • Supabase — stores your profile, roadmaps, and progress in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted in the EU. Supabase Privacy Policy →
  • Anthropic Claude — processes your profile and CV to generate roadmaps, assessments, and CVs. Your data is sent to Anthropic's API only at the moment a feature is triggered. Anthropic Privacy Policy →

No other third parties have access to your data.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active.

You can delete your account at any time from the Account Settings screen in the app. This permanently removes all your data from our systems — your profile, roadmaps, CV, and progress — within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

You can also contact us at support@carier.app to request data export or deletion.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Your account is protected by Supabase Auth with email verification. CV text is stored encrypted at rest. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled by Supabase's secure auth infrastructure.

Getting started

How do I upload my CV?

Go to your Profile tab → tap the CV & Skills card → tap Upload. You can paste CV text directly or import a document. The app extracts your skills and career summary automatically.

Supported format: plain text or PDF (text is extracted). Images of CVs are not supported.

How do I create a Career Path?

Open the Career Paths tab and tap Generate Roadmap. Enter your target role (e.g. "Senior iOS Engineer") and the AI builds a personalised step-by-step roadmap in seconds. You can also start from Growth Opportunities on the Home screen.

What is a Skill Gap Analysis?

Gap Analysis compares your current skills (from your CV and profile) against the requirements of any role you choose. It shows exactly which skills you're missing and how critical each one is — so you know what to focus on first.

Find it on the Gap Analysis tab. Select a role from the list to see your personalised gaps.

Roadmaps & progress

How do I mark a roadmap step as complete?

Open your roadmap, tap the step you've finished, and tap Mark Complete. You can undo this at any time while the roadmap is active. Once all steps are marked complete, the roadmap is locked as read-only and you earn an achievement badge.

What happens when I complete a roadmap?

When all steps are complete, the roadmap is locked and a Level Assessment becomes available. The assessment asks up to 10 scenario-based questions to confirm your level. If you pass, you can update your role in your profile. If not, you can restart the roadmap with a version tailored to your weaker areas.

Your new skills are also automatically added to your profile when you complete a roadmap.

Can I delete a roadmap?

Yes. On the Career Paths screen, swipe left on a roadmap card or tap the trash icon to delete it. This also removes the associated achievement badge if one was earned. This action cannot be undone.

CV & Level Assessment

How does the CV generator work?

The AI reads your existing CV and profile, then rewrites it with stronger language, better structure, and ATS-friendly formatting. You can generate a general improvement (from your Profile) or a version tailored to a specific new role (after passing a Level Assessment).

The generated CV is shown in a preview. Tap Copy to copy it, or Save to replace your stored CV with the new version.

What is the Level Assessment and when does it run?

When you complete a roadmap and want to update your role, the app runs a Level Assessment first. It asks up to 10 real-world scenario questions to confirm you're genuinely working at the target level.

Results: Pass — your role is updated and you can generate a tailored CV. Not yet — the roadmap is rebuilt with more focus on your weaker areas so you can try again.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account. A confirmation dialog will appear. Confirming permanently deletes your account, profile, roadmaps, CV, and all progress. This cannot be undone.

If you prefer, you can email support@carier.app and we'll handle the deletion for you.
